breaking hearts has never looked so cool [ 02.08.04 - 9:47 it's time to switch to whiskey, we've been drinkin' beer all night ] the barbecue last night was fun, although some poor decision-making on my part. initially planning to drink only one or two beers, i ended up drinking five or six, rendering me very drunk & very helpless. in attendance were kevin, justin (heh), sean, devin, cam, dreamy bob, genvieve, craig & seb, the last three of which i rarely get to see, so it was nice. we listened to country & western, kevin donned in his official garb. everyone was talking easily & casually. you could walk from one small clump of people to another & be swept up in a whole different conversation. it was just this constantly circulating group of individuals. it was wonderful. tons & tons of food, as well, which was magnifique. there were some down points, however. like when devin spat peach cooler at me twice & i wrapped my hands around his neck & hissed death threats at him, while bending him backwards over the half-finished deck (aka the pit of despair). that wasn't so much fun. but ultimately, it was a really great time. dreamy bob & i caught the bus from kevin's house & went back to the maison derriere. originally, he had planned on going to his own house, but we were having a really great conversation on the ride downtown, so i extended the invitation, which he not-so-gracefully accepted. we sat in my living room chit-chatting about nearly everyone on the planet until 1:30 am, when he started dozing off. he slept on my couch where the lucky bastard is right now. somehow, conversation between us is perfect - aimless but it never feels like wasted time. it's relaxed & comfortable & open. it was quite nice. now, however, it's frigging 7 am & i'm still a little drunk & way, way tired after a mere 3 hours of sleep. argh. i'm going to sleep my ass off tonight. photos to come, including some lovely slideshow shots of me shoving devin off the deck into the pit of despair.
